Clay Pigeon
(Buckinghamshire)
In
Brief "A
great experience with a high regard for safety and enjoyment."
Review
Having
arrived and been served with a cup of freshly brewed tea, the group
was introduced to the shooting range and shot-guns. There was
no escaping the reality that these guns had the potential of causing
serious injury, so it's no surprise that safety featured high on the
agenda. After
an initial talk about handling the guns safely, the group was split
in to two teams and assigned a shooting instructor. The teams
were then given a demonstration about the clay pigeons and how to
maximise the chance of hitting them in flight. There
were three separate shooting activities, each designed to vary the
speed and angle of the clay pigeon targets. Each team member
was given an opportunity to shoot 16 clay pigeons in each activity
(48 in total). It
was clear that everyone was enjoying the challenges and a number of
surprisingly good shooters quickly emerged from the team. Throughout
the experience the advice and guidance from the instructors was
excellent. Everyone hit at least 6 clay pigeons and became
progressively better with each activity. In
summary it was clear that this experience was suitable for everyone,
regardless of previous experience. The instructors were
professional throughout and offered advice to each team member to
maximise their individual chance of success.
